by The Ann Mahotsav (Harvest Festival) was celebrated on MasterChef India Season 9, Episode 7 through a Chutney Challenge, followed by a Team Challenge. Bollywood icon and yoga enthusiast Shilpa Shetty Kundra appeared as a special guest and brought exciting tasks for all 12 pairs of contestants.
Judges Chef Vikas Khanna, Chef Kunal Kapur, and Chef Ranveer Brar were seen judging and observing the contestants during both the Chutney and Team Challenges, while host Paritosh Tripathi added his signature flavor of fun and comedy to the episode.
The episode began with all 12 pairs of contestants entering the MasterChef Kitchen, where they were introduced to the Ann Bhandaar by the judges. The judges explained that they would be celebrating the Harvest Festival, and soon after, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra arrived as the special guest.
Chutney Challenge to Determine Team Captains
Shilpa Shetty Kundra announced a Chutney Challenge that would determine three out of the four team captains for the upcoming Team Challenge. Since Mehfooz Ansari and Yasmin Ansari had already won the Divine Mystery Box Challenge in the previous episode, they were pre-selected as the captains of one of the four teams and did not participate in the Chutney Challenge.
Rules of the Chutney Challenge
- Each pair had to prepare a chutney of their choice within the given time limit.
- Three captaincy positions were available.
- Contestants were given 20 minutes to make their chutneys.
- The Ann Bhandaar pantry remained open for the entire 20 minutes.
- The MasterChef pantry remained closed during the challenge.
- The three pairs who made the best chutneys would become captains for their respective teams.
Chutney Challenge Results: Who Became Captains for the Team Challenge
After the rules were announced, the remaining 11 pairs (excluding Yasmin and Mehfooz) began preparing their chutneys within the 20-minute time limit. Once time was up, the judges, along with Shilpa Shetty Kundra, tasted each chutney and selected the top three pairs.

Team Challenge: Harvest Festival Inspired
Following the Chutney Challenge, the Harvest Festival Team Challenge was announced, in which four teams competed against each other. The top three teams would qualify for the Immunity Pin Challenge, while the team ranked lowest would miss out on that opportunity.
Rules of the Harvest Festival-Inspired Team Challenge
- All four teams had to prepare a three-course menu inspired by the Harvest Festival.
- The team of Yasmin and Mehfooz received an advantage of 15 extra minutes and thus had a total of 75 minutes to cook.
- The other three teams had 60 minutes each.
- The Ann Bhandaar Pantry remained open throughout the challenge.
- The MasterChef pantry remained closed.

After the team announcement, Yasmin and Mehfooz’s team headed first to the pantry to collect their ingredients, utilizing their 15-minute advantage. Once their extra time was up, the remaining three teams also began collecting their ingredients.
All teams then started preparing their harvest-inspired dishes while the judges and Shilpa Shetty observed their progress. The episode concluded on this note, setting the stage for the results in the next episode.
