Rajamouli directorial is breaking box office milestones one after another and that too not only in India but in overseas countries as well. Already in Australia this South Indian periodic action drama film left behind Robert Pattinson’s The Batman as RRR is the no. 1 film right now at Australia box office. RRR leaving a big film like The Batman and that too in a foreign country is a huge achievement as everyone knows that Batman is the biggest superhero of the DC Universe and DC’s promotional machinery works in full force to promote anything related to this character.
In the opening 2 days RRR grossed around $17.5 million from its overseas business and from the North American markets of USA and Canada it has earned most of its income on Friday and Saturday. Judging from the way RRR is rocking in countries like ‘USA, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand’ it seems that South stars Jr. NTR and Ram Charan have a bigger mass appeal then most of the Bollywood superstars of modern era.
In European Countries like Poland, Finland, and Sweden a lot of screens have been allotted to RRR and it is receiving fabulous results from all these regions. Around 1750 screens have been allotted to RRR in overseas market and judging from the way it has performed in the opening three days it is highly expected that this number might increase a bit more in the near future. Till date Aamir Khan’s Dangal is the biggest grosser at overseas markets as far as Indian films are concerned. Dangal collected $260 million through its lifetime biz and whether RRR will break that record or not, It will be interesting to see.
Right now RRR is running in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam versions in both Indian as well as Overseas cinemas. When it was revealed that RRR has been made with a budget of ₹ 550 crores many people said that the producers have taken a huge gamble by spending this kind of mad money on the making of this film and they will regret because they will suffer losses. But now after seeing its earnings from the overseas markets it appears that producers of RRR made the right call.
Due to the Covid19 Pandemic and also production delays, the promotions of RRR got hindered a lot of times but fortunately for the makers those delays had no negative impact on the performance of this movie and seriously speaking the delays somewhat helped it as Covid restrictions have been lifted in many countries now and due to this a lot more people are getting to enjoy this film in theatres.
Today in USA and Canada most of the morning and noon shows of RRR went houseful as Indians living in these two countries went in huge numbers to enjoy this movie in cinemas at the weekend. Overall occupancy rate of RRR in USA and Canada on Sunday 27 March 2022 has been recorded around 80% – 90% which is brilliant and even in the United Kingston a lot of enthusiasm was seen among the local Indians to watch this movie as morning and noon shows of this film in London and Birmingham got great crowd response.
