Hindi sports drama film Jersey showed a slight improvement in its Day 2 biz at Indian box office due to which this Shahid Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur, and Pankaj Kapoor starrer managed to gross ₹ 5.50 crores on Saturday 23 April 2022. Despite of this little growth, the final collection figures received on Day 2 are not at all satisfactory and it seems that Indian audience is in no mood to give an opportunity to this film as most Indian cinema enthusiasts are preferring KGF Chapter 2 over Jersey as it appears that people have made up their mind about this film already and public word from mouth is not going to work that much in its favour.
Jersey has been made with a budget of ₹ 100 crores and definitely this film will recover its entire budget because its Satellite rights are already being sold to ZEE Cinema TV Channel at a whooping price and also its OTT rights are being bought by Netflix India for a hefty amount but still we can definitely say that Jersey won’t be able to make satisfactory profits as its overall profits will fall way short of the projections by the makers.
Earlier on Friday 22 April 2022, Jersey was released on about 2450 screens across India and after seeing its poor performance over the first weekend, almost 1000 screens which were being allotted to this film are now being transferred to KGF Chapter 2 by the Single screen owners. Looking at the present performance of Jersey at box office India, it appears that we have a John Abraham’s Attack situation all over again.
Indian audience seems to have gotten very smart with the passing time as now a days they don’t prefer remakes or the film made on social messages & taboo subjects. Now a days people prefer mass entertainers and both KGF Chapter 2 & RRR are the recent examples of it. Also we have already witnessed how badly Attack flopped at box office recently and same is going to happen to Jersey in the near future.
On the 2nd consecutive day growth has been witnessed in the box office biz of Jersey in India as on Day 3 a decent amount of occupancy has been estimated for this film in the cinemas of Maharashtra, Delhi, Jammu, and Punjab. Unfortunately KGF 2 effect once again impacted its business on Sunday 24 March 2022 because of which Jersey failed to collect in double digits.
3rd Day (Sunday) Collection of Jersey in India is ₹ 7 crores (approximately)
