Set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War, story of Sam Bahadur film is based on the heroics of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw as he led the Indian Army from the front leading to Bangladesh’s liberation. Sanya Malhotra is playing the character of Sam’s wife (Silloo Manekshaw), while Fatima Sana Shaikh is essaying the character of then Prime Minister ‘Indira Gandhi’ along with Neeraj Kabi featured as Jawaharlal Nehru.
Sam Bahadur is a masterpiece in every single sense which focuses on pure storytelling with powerful dialogues, extraordinary cinematography, good BGM. Rather than putting emphasis on over the top jingoism and chest thumping, Sam Bahadur has shown the daily working of Indian army in a pure authentic manner and kudos to director Meghna Gulzar for taking such a big gamble.
Although it gets boring sometimes because of its slow pacing, but high-end multiplex audience will definitely enjoy this film a lot
Vicky Kaushal has shined a lot and undoubtedly it is his best film till date in terms of acting performance, even better than URI: The Surgical Strike. The rest of the support cast including Sanya Malhotra has done a pretty good job as far as their performance are concerned.

Fatima Sana Shaikh as the young version of Indira Gandhi has absolutely knocked it out of the park and her confrontations with Vicky in this film are some of the biggest highlights of this entire film.
Overall Sam Bahadur looks like a worthy competitor for Sandeep Reddy Vanga juggernaut titled Animal, and once again major props to director Meghna Gulzar for showing the life of field marshal Sam Manekshaw in all its glory in this film.
