Jersey (2022) Hindi Film First Day Collection in India – 22 April (Friday) Box Office Income Report

Starring Shahid Kapoor in lead role alongside Mrunal Thakur, Bollywood sports drama film Jersey has been released in theatres today across the worldwide and this remake of Nani starrer Telugu film has made a very average opening at Box office India. Jersey has been allotted with 2450 screens across India and despite of getting such a good first day screen count, this film has failed to impress with its performance at the Hindi belts as Prashanth Neel’s KGF Chapter 2 completely dominated it on Friday 22 April 2022 in the state of Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana, UP, Gujarat, and even Madhya Pradesh.

Jersey has been made with a budget of ₹ 150 crores and makers opted to delay its release by a week because of the fear of eventual Day 1 clash with KGF 2 and that in itself showed that makers didn’t had much confidence in the content that they have produced. Despite of avoiding the Day 1 clash, still KGF 2 overshadowed Jersey and from the response of the audience on Day 1 its has become quite obvious that still KGF 2 is their first preference over Jersey to watch in theatres.

Surely KGF 2 won’t be able to recover its entire budget with its theatrical run and it appears that director Gowtam Tinnanuri has made a big mistake by remaking this film in Hindi as it would have been much better if he would have re-released 2019 Telugu film Jersey which starred Nani in the Hindi dubbed version.

Most of the critics have also rejected Jersey in their pre-release reviews as even in our review we gave it a rating of only 2 stars out of 5. The film has slow pacing and its a complete copy paste remake of Telugu film Jersey as there isn’t any creativity shown by the director while remaking it. It would have been much better if makers had released Jersey directly on OTT Platforms.

Box Office India business of Jersey on Friday 22 April 2022 was quite unimpressive as most of its early morning and noon shows received less then 50% occupancy in the cinema halls. Later in the evening time the overall occupancy rate increased a little bit but it was recorded only around 65% at peak which is extremely bad. Public feedback is also not good as the viewers who have already watched Nani’s Jersey, they appeared very disappointed.

First Day (Friday) Collection of Jersey in India is  ₹ 3.75 crores
