by The story of Showtime revolves around a film critic named Mahika Nandy (Mahima Makwana) and a highly influential film producer named Raghu Khanna (Emraan Hashmi). Raghu and his father Victor Khanna (Naseeruddin Shah) are not on good terms as his father wasn’t happy with the way Raghu manages their film production studio.
Mahika Nandy gets the task of reviewing Raghu Khanna’s latest film named Pyaar Dangerous and Raghu tries to bribe her for a positive 4 star rating review by giving her an expensive phone, but Mahika refuses the bribe and gives an honest review with 0 out of 5 star rating. Raghu uses his influence and gets Mahika fired from her job.
Victor Khanna calls Mahika Nandy to his house and he praises her for her honesty. Next day, the news breaks out that Victor Khanna has committed suicide as he was suffering from prostate cancer.
After Victor’s death, the family lawyer reads the will and she made the shocking revelation that Victor has left his second wife Sarika Khanna (mother of Raghu Khanna) with the custody of his sea-facing bungalow and an annual pension of Rs 1 crore. and he has left the managing control of Viktory Studios to his first wife’s granddaughter named Mahika Nandy.
An angry Raghu Khanna tries to manipulate Mahika, but he failed miserably. The war between Raghu and Mahika begins. Raghu decides to open his independent production studio named Raghu Khanna production, and he also offered all the workers of Viktory Studios to join him.
Raghu and Mahika both started working on making their own version of a periodic drama film named 1857 and they both started making efforts to get Armaan Singh (Rajeev Khandelwal) on board as lead actor. Armaan liked Mahika’s script of 1857 a lot, but Raghu offered a separate comeback film to Armaan’s wife Mandira (Shreya Saran) titled Agent Haseena by replacing her in lead role with his own girlfriend Yasmin Ali (Mouni Roy).
After getting jealous from all the attention Mandira started receiving from the media, Armaan decides to join Mahika’s 1857 film Project. Raghu goes to Armaan’s house to express his anger and Armaan taunts him by saying that stars are the real Gods.
Yasmin gets angry on Raghu for backstabbing her by signing Mandira for Agent Haseena lead role. Raghu shows Yasmin her true place. Yasmin receives the news from her doctor that she is pregnant with Raghu’s child.
Raghu joins forces with a popular producer named Saajan Morarka (Vijay Raaz) with the condition of making Saajan’s son Montu the lead actor of Raghu’s film.
Mahika finds out that their production studios upcoming film Screw Dheela’s profits and credits will be given to Raghu Khanna, because it was made when he was controlling Viktory’s studio, and Mahika refused to do it.
Armaan Singh gets insecure of his co-actress Meena in 1857 film and he starts creating trouble for her on the sets. Mahika under pressure removes Meena from the film.
Raghu arrives at Mahika’s office and she tells him that she wants majority of Screw Dheela’s profits, but Raghu refuses and then she blackmails him by telling him that his girlfriend Yasmin is pregnant with his child.
An angry Raghu went to Yasmin’s house and he tells her to abort the child. Screw Dheela’s premiere happened and it became a blockbuster hit. Raghu casts Meena Chandra as Mandira Singh co-star in Agent Haseena.
News of Armaan Singh’s extra-marital affair with his former co-star Saira Mistry breaks out as their pictures together in a car went viral and it came as a big jolt for Mahika 1857 film project as the Boycott Armaan movement started by the public.
