Released as a PAN India film on last Wednesday, Tamil action comedy film Beast has failed to impress the audience because of its lacklustre plot and due to this it has flopped big time at Indian box office. Although Beast has managed to earn around ₹ 95 crores from Tamil Nadu state cinemas only but still makers of this film had much bigger expectations and unfortunately this Nelson directorial badly failed to meet those expectations.
Only because of the massive stardom of lead actor Thalapathy Vijay and lead actress Pooja Hegde, Beast has managed to earn over ₹ 150 crores at worldwide box office but definitely Vijay has not yet cemented his place as a PAN India Superstar and if he really wants to follow the footsteps of Prabhas and Rocking Star Yash then he needs to pick a film with a much better storyline as his next project.
Beast will release on OTT Platforms Netflix India and Sun NXT on 11 May 2022 and although the total amount of money paid to these two platforms for OTT rights deals of Beast has not been disclosed yet but there are rumours that it has been sold to these two streaming services for a whooping amount of around ₹ 70 crores approximately.
Prashanth Neel’s KGF Chapter 2 released just a day after Beast was released in theatres and due to their direct clash at Indian Box Office, Beast suffered heavy losses. The Hindi dubbed Version of Beast which was titled as RAW, lost almost 90% of its screens only after the first 4 days as most of them got transferred to KGF 2 and RRR. So its quite obvious that makers have also made a big mistake by releasing Beast on 13 April 2022 as it should have been delayed by at least 1 month to avoid the clash with RRR and KGF 2.
Even on 2nd Wednesday i.e. 20 April 2022, Box office biz of Beast in India has not witnessed any growth at all and it has declined even more. Across India Day 8 Overall Occupancy Rate of Beast has been estimated around 15% – 20% and apart from Tamil Nadu, most of its shows are receiving only 5% – 7% occupancy in the rest of India.
8th Day (2nd Wednesday) Collection of Beast in India is ₹ 3.60 crores (approximately)
