by Much awaited Bollywood comedy action film Bachchan Paandey which was released in theatres earlier this Friday all across India and Overseas has managed to do a business of ₹ 25.25 crores in the opening two days. The Farhad Samji directorial film which features Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Arshad Warsi, and Jacqueline Fernandez in pivotal roles has completely failed to compete against the box office Tsunami called The Kashmir Files. The Vivek Agnihotri’s film which is currently running on about 4000 screens across India has completely dominated Bachchan Paandey on Friday and Saturday.
Although makers have marketed Bachchan Paandey as a comedy action film but to be quite honest its comedy portions are not at all impressive and some of them are damn awful. The business this movie is doing right now at Indian box office is only because of the huge popularity of Akshay Kumar and as we earlier stated in our review that Akshay has completely carried this film on his shoulders and now it seems that Akkians are carrying this movie on their shoulders as far as its box office business is concerned.
Still we will give some time to Bachchan Paandey as its business might improve a bit in the coming days because still its early days to say whether its a hit or a flop but definitely the biggest blockbuster of the year The Kashmir Files is creating a lot of trouble for Bachchan Paandey. Even if we compare the budgets of both these movies then its a David and Goliath fight as Bachchan Paandey has been made with a big budget of ₹ 150 crores while only ₹ 14 crores have been spent on making The Kashmir Files but surely David is winning the fight yet again.
On Sunday i.e. 20 March 2022 Bachchan Paandey overall occupancy rate at the early morning and noon shows in India has been estimated at around 65% – 75% and later on in the evening and night shows it improved a bit as it was recorded at around 70% – 80% which is not at all satisfactory given the kind of expectations makers, producers as well as die hard Akshay Kumar fans have from this film. It seems that the business of Bachchan Paandey will decline a bit further in the coming days and if that happens then producer Sajid Nadiadwala will definitely suffer a major loss.
