Rakul Preet Singh’s Hotness as Surpanakha in Ramayana 2026 Film Overshadows Sai Pallavi’s Sita Mata – Netizens Slam Makers for Casting Blunder

Rakul Preet Singh’s hotness in the role of Ravana’s sister Surpanakha has caught everyone’s attention in Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial film Ramayana trailer, which was unveiled on July 30, 2026. Apart from Rakul’s beauty, the casting of Sai Pallavi as Sita Mata has also become a major topic of discussion, with many netizens expressing anger towards the makers.

The Ramayana trailer, which has already received significant flak over serious concerns about its ₹4,000 crore budget, is now being slammed for the obvious casting blunder of pairing a much hotter and more beautiful actress, Rakul Preet Singh, as the antagonist Surpanakha against the positive lead character of Prabhu Shree Ram’s wife, Sita Mata.

Some fans were even seen trending the hashtag “#NotMySitaMata,” slamming the casting of Sai Pallavi in this role. We somewhat agree that the character does not suit her at all, as Sai looks more like a side character and gets completely overshadowed by the evergreen and gorgeous Rakul.

Some fans have even started demanding that the makers reshoot the entire sequences featuring Sita Mata and Surpanakha and swap the roles of both actresses, meaning Rakul as Sita Mata and Sai as Surpanakha. This looks very unlikely to happen.

Although some staunch fans of Sai Pallavi are defending the casting by saying the Sita Mata role should not be depicted as glamorous, this argument seems invalid. In the canon Ramayana story, Sita Mata is depicted as the most beautiful woman on the planet, and even Surpanakha praises her beauty when she manipulates her brother Ravana to abduct her.
