All Highlights and Major Happenings from the Show
- The show kicked off with CM Punk discussing his current focus on becoming WWE World Heavyweight Champion and facing Gunther at SummerSlam 2025 in New Jersey for the title. Punk claimed he’s not just any other challenger, but the Best in the World. Gunther’s music hit, and he entered the ring to confront Punk. Gunther spoke about their similarities and his own ego, which he considers justified. He then talked about the mauling he’s going to give Punk at SummerSlam and warned that Punk would regret ever stepping into a professional wrestling ring.
- Backstage, Stephanie Vaquer was confronted by Naomi. Naomi spoke to Vaquer about their upcoming match at Clash in Paris 2025 for the WWE Women’s World Championship, but Vaquer told Naomi it would only happen if she could beat IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley at SummerSlam in New Jersey. Naomi replied that she would beat both IYO and Rhea, unlike Vaquer, mocked her, and left saying, “See you in Paris.”
- Backstage, El Grande Americano and Dragon Lee got into a brawl after Lee called El Grande a fake and accused him of disrespecting all the luchadors. Officials quickly separated them.
- A small gorilla position clip of IShowSpeed entering the men’s Royal Rumble match (2025) was shown from the upcoming WWE documentary series “WWE Unreal,” which will be released on Netflix on July 29, 2025.
- IYO SKY was confronted by Stephanie Vaquer backstage, where IYO challenged Vaquer to a match later that night, and Vaquer accepted.
- In an in-ring promo segment, Becky Lynch put forth a condition in front of Lyra Valkyria: if Lyra loses at SummerSlam, she will never be able to challenge Becky again for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Lyra accepted Becky’s terms but responded with her own condition: at SummerSlam there will be no count-outs and no disqualification in their match, as there must be a winner.
- Backstage, Dominik Mysterio attacked AJ Styles from behind and announced that he’s medically cleared and will defend his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Styles at SummerSlam.
- Chelsea Green and Secret Hervice (Alba Fyre and Piper Niven) attacked Stephanie Vaquer from behind during Vaquer’s match against IYO SKY, causing a DQ win for Vaquer. IYO tried to save Vaquer from the assault, but Naomi came from behind, making the odds too uneven against IYO and Vaquer. Finally, Rhea Ripley came to their rescue, took out Secret Hervice and Naomi, hit Chelsea with a Riptide, and then IYO, Rhea, and Vaquer ended up standing tall inside the ring.
- In the main event segment, “OTC” Roman Reigns confronted Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, and “Big” Bronson Reed. Reigns warned Bron and Bronson that Heyman would backstab them just as he had before. Reigns said he didn’t become Tribal Chief because of Heyman, nor did he keep that title because of Heyman—as Solo Sikoa, The Usos, and even Sami Zayn helped prolong his title reign. Reigns stated that The Bloodline was God’s work, not Heyman’s creation, and said Heyman ruined The Bloodline, not him. Bron Breakker grabbed the mic and told Reigns he’s irrelevant now, calling him old and yesterday’s news. Bron told Reigns to leave the ring, but Reigns said he hadn’t heard anything Bron said, threw the mic towards him, and then hit Bron with a Superman Punch. The odds were against Reigns as Bron and Bronson began beating him down, but Jey Uso ran in to even the score. Reigns and Jey delivered spears to Bron and Bronson at the same time as the show went off the air.
